IRANIAN AMBASSADOR:
Iranian ambassador rushed off to hospital after riot
Av: Carin Pettersson 10. jul 09:57

After 200 persons participated in a legal and peaceful demonstration outside the Iranian embassy in Oslo, Norway, several of the protesters returned and attacked the building.

According to an estimate presented by the Norwegian daily Aftenposten, there were as many as 50 police officers in riot gear present when the protest evolved around 6:45 p.m. Monday, states NTB.

No one was hurt
Audun Myhre, operation commander at Oslo Police district, confirms that there were clashes between police and protesters.

Hossein Noghreh Kar Shirazi, Iranian ambassador, was brought to the hospital with heart problems shortly after the protest, but the ambassador was not directly hurt during the event, according to the Norwegian TV station NRK. No one else has been reported hurt during the event.

The legal protest was organized by «Solidarisk bevegelse for frihet og demokrati i Iran».

Unaware of trouble
Spokesman for the organization, Rahman Saki, stated to NTB that he was completely unaware of the fact that there had been trouble outside the embassy.

«We completed our demonstration according to Norwegian laws and regulations. We received thanks from the police because of our good behaviour,» said Saki. He stressed that he condemns the measures which he has been informed were taken after the protest was concluded.
